Does Memtest86 give false errors?

When my OCZ power supply unit went I could smell it smoldering. It did not have the violent death that I saw in a garbage "Bestec" brand power supply. That power supply made a loud violent sound and then it smoldered as well.

Is it correct then to say the hardware has suffered two PSUs failing?

Well I dont buy cheap supplies, so most of the failures havent done damage. Where as cheap supplies are bad of having voltage spikes/burn outs. Which does cause problems.

No, that Bestec power supply was in a computer I was working on for someone else. It was an original equipment manufacturer computer that had it. I would not put one of those junk power supplies in any of my systems.
