No Internet connection using XP

I have a problem I have encountered before, but can not remember what the solution was. The problem is that I can not get a computer running XP to connect to the Internet.
This computer was running 7 previously, and I had no problems then, so I know that it is not a hardware problem.
(The reason for using XP is that I need it to run some older programs that won't run on 7, and the easest solution seemed to be to run them on XP.)
Since I can not connect to the Internet, any Web based solutions are useless.
Any suggestions, anyone?

No, I don't have an installation disk for this MO. Does XP not have any drivers?
I have to look into this.

Normally XP doesn't automatically provide ethernet drivers (or many other drivers for that matter). What's the make and model of your computer?

If it's a custom built, what is the make and model of the motherboard?

In either case you can download the driver from he manufacturers website.
