EliteBook 8560w help with audio

Hey guys,

As mentioned in the title, that's the model I have from HP. I seriously don't understand how the audio works... here are a few weird "acts" that my laptop performs:

1) Whenever I log in/off or chat with someone on Skype (everytime I receive a message), my laptop decides to ignore my earphones and project sound 100% out of the speaker.. music, notification sounds, everything...why?

2) When I have a game open, it completely ignores the in-game sound. I can't even adjust the volume, and even if I do, doesn't do anything. I hate this so much.

3) I have two separate volume options, one seems to be speaker and the other one for headset. I don't understand why there must be two separate volume adjust buttons.

If someone please could help with the above, that would be great. Thanks in advance,

I guess no one's too familiar with elitebooks? :( I've been playing around with it for like 30 minutes straight, and can't figure out why my earphones are ignored when I'm playing a game like Starcraft 2.

I guess I would try reinstalling the drivers and see what happens. Also check in game sound to see if it is set to Windows default.

Drivers are fine I think (re-installed already, but no change). Also, the in game settings are also fine.

When I look into the sound options, there are two different volume buttons, which is so annoying to control

in device manager, can you disable one of the devices? I know that won't permanently fix your problem but I want to see what it changes.

Actually... I kinda fixed the problem following your recommendation lol...

in SC2 options, there are audio output to choose.. but I chose default and didn't automatically capture the earphones? I thought all laptops would automatically disable the speaker if something is plugged in?

But now it works, it's just stupid that now I have to edit two different volumes..

and another downside is that if i want to watch Youtube while SC2 is running, I can't listen using earphones.. so dumb -_-
