Secondary monitor aspect ratio

I just got a nice 19' monitor on a yard sale (15$ !!!) and I want to use it as a secondary monitor. The problem is that my main monitor's aspect ratio is different then the one's I just got so when I do extended display it gives it black bars and makes its aspect ratio like the one on my other monitor. Is there any way I can make the aspect ratio on the second monitor different so I don't have to look at these ugly black bars?

In case you need that info the monitor's resolutions are:
-1920x1080
-1440x900

My screens are two different resolutions and ratios like yours. When you select each monitor you should be able to set the resolution. Just set them as high as they can go. I assume you're using Windows 7? It might be a little different in 8, I wouldn't know.

Yeah, but on the second one's the max res. is 1440x900 and it only lets me go up to 1366 x 768 giving me the black bars.

Nope, no matter what I do it wants to keep the aspect ratio of the second monitor same as the first monitor giving me these dumb black bars...

Now I gave up on extending my desktop and decided to use the monitor with my laptop which has a cracked screen so it can't be used w/o a monitor. And... same thing happens, for some reason the laptop can't use the whole screen, it lets me set the res. to 1366x768 and not to 1440x900 which is the screen's resolution. Can anyone explain that to me, and is there any way to fix it? I also noticed that there is a box checked in the intel graphics properties saying "maintain aspect ratio" but for some reason I can't uncheck it...
