Win8 Can't Boot or Repair

Couple weeks ago I was playing BF3 (and owning at it too) and after a few hours in-game, i got a BSOD with error code 0xc000021a. After that my computer wouldnt get past the windows logo screen before crashing and then trying to auto repair. Repair can't fix the issue and using the command prompt in the advanced troubleshooting options i opened the SrtTrails.txt log file which says it can't find an issue. I have tried restoring and refreshing and both crash soon after launching, and when restoring doesn't it says my friends win8 install disc is invalid. Refreshing and repairing by booting to his disk comes to the same error. I dont have any system images saved unfortunately.

Want to try anything else except formatting and reinstalling, but it looks like that will be the solution. I have tried removing the ram sticks individually just to see if they are the issue.

If you can access the minidump file from a different computer, I may be able to determine what is causing it. Just zip up the minidump and attach it to your next post.

Yes and no use

Just attach the minidump file itself and I can/John can run it through the debugger.

So hang on do you have your own Windows 8 disc which you can repair the OS from? Because in your first post you keep going on about your friend's disc.

I installed the previews on a flash drive and then upgraded in-OS to a full copy. The drive was formatted for something else sometime so i had to borrow his. Might be part of the problem.

The minidump for the blue screen will be located at c:\windows\minidump. Should be a minidump file in that folder. You will have to put the drive in another system to access it though.

Yeah you should be able to Jonny. Or pull the hard drive out, stick it in another PC and access it from there.

When i click on the drive, ubuntu comes up with a long error message that at one spot says that it is hibernated which is an unsafe state to open. It shouldnt be since i was in-game and it just crashed and rebooted.

Works on the emachine (takes forever to do anything though). Still dont see a memory or minidump file, and i do have hidden folders visible

Looks like it wasnt enabled, found registry values online though and command prompt can open regedit.

Before when it crashed at boot it instantly went blue then restart, now it is coming up with the error code and collecting the data before restarting. Any way to find that report?

there isn't and enabling it using regedit but not being able to actually restart the computer to enable it means it won't create the file.

I was able to change it to a Kernel dump and when I changed the output location some .dmp files from the day it broke and today showed up, so I have those on a flash drive here. But I need a file hosting service or an email to send them to

yeah...since I couldn't use the regular minidump andhad to use a kernel dump or something like that, the files total around 656mb I think, so taking a minute to upload to skydrive since Hotmail has a 25mb limit

will see if I can send in a little while when it finishes, but how can I view them myself? Down'd WinDBG (x64) on mom's new lappy (i3-3000 series & 4GB) and both x64 symbol packages, but it says they are non-directory paths and when it loads the dump it says the symbols are wrong or incomplete or something.
