Is this the wrong time to purchase a gaming laptop?

With 8-core nextgen gaming consoles on the horizon, is this a bad time to purchase a gaming laptop?

A lot of this comes down to opinion and speculation.. But asides from a Macbook Pro (which is set to be updated shortly), Haswell was released recently and SSDs prices don't show any indication of decreasing dramatically any time soon.

Well anything new is gunna be through the roof in cost and processors will never be cheaper (or SSD's...or RAM...possibly vid cards tho ;P )...I would say if you're serious, pay for something that can be upgraded easily and something you can sell the old parts and still get a semi decent price...something that's overkill for now will be normal for later...I purchased my laptop (specs in sig) so that it wouldn't go out of date for at LEAST 4 or 5 years and I'm quite confident it won't....Worse comes to worse you can sell the system on craigslist and afford to buy and build another system :)

Your laptop is similar to the one I'm looking at.

seems like the same laptop :P...that body is pretty thick but it's nice!...I spent $70 for new RAM (16gb) and a new HDD (750GB with 8gb SSD cache that remembers preferred programs) and that was another $120 but I used the old stuff...I would say buy it with a great processor and great vid card and upgrade the HDD and the ram yourself cuz it was another $200 for 16gb of ram so they charge $130 to install it lol!...but yeh make sure it's upgradeable and it seems great to me! honestly the processor is amazing even if it seems like there's lots out there that can beat it...(talking about mine) it's 4 core 8 thread and it has similar performance to my friend desktop that cost him $2000 lol...so this laptop is AMAZING for being a LAPTOP!...but there's heating issues somewhat, I recommend ALWAYS using a cooling pad if possible! and clean it out like once or twice a month too

holy cow, that's like my exact laptop...what's that cost transfer into US dollar? mine was orignally $1200 US dollar but I got it for a steal at $800 US dollar...
