Running 2 WD My passport's at the same time (letter assigning issue) SOLVED.

It is as simple that both drives gets assigned the same drive letter (which leads to that I only see the first drive connected within the explorer) and I don't want that, instead I want to see both at the same time.

I want each to have different letter so I can use both drives at the same time. I tried to change the letter going into the controlpanel etc etc... and yes the letter gets changed, but for both drives.... The drives are identical. I am using windows 8. This is driving me crazy so I would really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks!

Use disk management to change drive letters.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I have done that, but then again both HDD's gets assigned the same letter. (I don't know why).

So lets say I assign the letter Q to one of them. Then when connecting the other one, it gets also the letter Q, but I just want one of the to have the letter Q and the other one some other letter. When having them both connected I only see one of them in the disc management window and same goes with the explorer where I also see only one of them..., when I want to see them both. What to do?

Disc management screen were I only see one of them (having both connected), image - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/571/ao2d.png/

It seems like the other disc doesn't have any letter assigned to it when both are being connected, image - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/14/qu0z.png/

Although when using just one of them at a time, then they use the letter Q. I don't think it's a drivers issue since they works perfectly fine using them one at a time.

If anyone know/can think of a solution to all this please let me know.

Thanks.
