Hi,

I know there are micro-stutters but I'm having some issues right now:

1) Why do I need to go back to the desktop, then return to the game so that frames are normal? This reminds me of the old GTX 670 I used to have where in the nVidia setting, there was a "throttle" option where fps will drop if temperature reaches certain point.... do you guys know why I have to go to my desktop background and go back??

2) I use 120Hz monitor.. which works quite well on starcraft 2. But, seems like some other games like Aion and Diablo 3 are limited to 60fps... so just because i have a 120hz monitor, doesn't mean i'll always get 120 fps?

3) Why do I lag SOO much playing left 4 dead 2??? it's unbearable :S... it's like major stutters

Firstly the 7990 is essentially a single pcb crossfired card correct? Two 7970s I believe.

AMD / Ati cards have epic problems in crossfire still, so the first step would be to ensure you have the latest drivers (look at Beta ones too). The 13.8 driver purports to resolve the crossfire stuttering.

In addition, I would be checking the motherboard drivers and BIOS.

Then game updates, defrag HDD if using spinning media, or TRIM on SSDs.

Also try and update Direct X.

If all of the above doesn't work, id reinstall Windows from scratch.

Thanks for the reply.

No, I just built this rig like 3 days ago lol. So defrag and re-installing windows won't work.

Plus, All the drivers are up to date I'm sure.

They might be up to date, but have you got the 13.8 beta installed? That was the solution to many similar problems. Also, if you've just installed the OS, then a defrag is probably very much needed.

Thirdly have you got all your motherboard drivers installed? Updated DirectX and mobo BIOS?

You mean the 13.10?

If that's what you have installed then good. But anything over 13.8.

If it still remains, then unfortunately you're another victim of ATis rubbish drivers in crossfire configuration.
