Gaming pc for around $500

You have a point, I just like supporting the American economy as much as possible.
Ok I changed a couple things tell me what you think.

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339
MB: (same one just cheaper on amazon)
CPU: Same just no tax with amazon
And it all comes down to a little less than $800 yay :)
btw do I want sdram? and do you guys suggest windows 7 or 8?
Thanks guys

Looks good. I would get Windows 8, as it's the newer and better (IMHO) OS. I prefer it over W7. And if you don't like the new start menu there is software you can get like Pokki that adds a classic start menu.

+1 for Windows 8. It's basically got Windows 7 running underneath it but it's much more efficient and quicker. The only real noticeable difference is the metro UI, but that's learned in like 20 mins.

Is there any reason to get the pro version or will the standard one do they job?
Thanks

I think the main difference is the built-in security features, the pro version has more of that. Then you get some bonus not really useful features with the pro version like remote desktop and some tools that help you set up a home server. So, if you don't mind not having that then go for regular windows 8.

Windows 8 is fine. May as well get that.

Hardware is looking fine but I think you're paying a lot for the HAF when the Phantom is cheaper and in no way 'worse' than the HAF. So basically the Phantom is as good as the HAF, if not better (possibly) for less money.

I agree that the HAF is a waste of money but hey, people like certain cases better than others, so whatever floats your boat I guess.

There are other cases out there which are cheaper than the HAF and may suit his style. I just think the HAF is a rip off.

Awesome! Everything has been bought except the cpu and motherboard (will buy them tomorrow) Thanks everyone for your help!
