Hey guys, I'm making a gaming PC and my max limit is $2400. (including monitor & I already have a mouse) Here are my parts so far. Please feel free to swap out parts for better stuff etc. Cheers

Get 16GB of RAM via 2x8GB so you can upgrade later on to 32GB if you wish. Just to make things easier.

If you can, maybe replace with the 7970 with the GTX 780 since it's newer and a little faster (so long as the price difference isn't too big) http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/770?vs=827

If you don't need the i7 (for gaming it's slightly overkill), then instead you can get an i5 4670K and with the money you save get a really good cooler so you can overclock it and then maybe think about getting a 2TB hard drive rather than a 1TB drive and a 256GB drive instead of a 128GB just to get yourself some more space.

By all means though, if you can still afford a 4770K with a GTX 780 and a bigger hard drive and/or SSD, go for it. The main priority is your graphics card.

You need to buy Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate if you're going to have 16GB of RAM. Home is limited to 16GB including graphics memory. So if you got 16GB and then got that 3GB 7970, Windows 7 Home would only be using 13GB. Pro and Ultimate would be using all 16GB.

Hey thanks for your advice, also I have made some slight tweeks to it, but I could not change the graphics card because it bumps me over my budget, my new build is:

Will this build still be able to run say Battlefield 3 on max graphics?
 
That's looking really good now and yeah I'm pretty sure it'll run it. What montor/res do you have?

You need to the change the OS to Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate for the reasons I stated in my previous post and try to get 2x8GB if you can but if not then don't worry, 4x4 will be fine.
 
Oh yeah sorry, I thought I changed it to windows professional. But for my monitor, the only decent one I've found is the Asus vk248h. It's $270 which is good because I don't want to spend any more than that on a monitor, but I don't know much when it comes to monitors. Are there better ones for an equivalent price / cheaper? I'm open for all suggestions. Cheers.
 
The PC in my signature can run Battlefield 3 with Ultra settings (including an auxiliary display with Firefox/Skype) at 1080p without dipping below 50 FPS.
Yours will do much better, considering you'll have the same amount of RAM, same/better CPU and a better GPU.
I say 'same/better' CPU, because yours will be better clock for clock, but I doubt you'll be able to reach 4.8GHz on Haswell.
 
Oh sweet, I was hoping that it would be able to run it on max :D Oh and also,what kind of monitors do you guys use? Because I don't want to spend more than $270 on one, can that still get me a good one?
 
Anything 1080p 23", 24" or 27" with a good response time (2ms is good) will be good. ASUS make some good monitors.
 
I currently have 2x BenQ GL2450HM's.
I've played BF3 on those two, along with a 27" Samsung monitor in the middle (1920x1200, so there were a minor black border at the top and bottom) on medium settings.
To be honest, I could live with 1920x1080 on a 27", but my friend has one of those $1000 27" 2560x1440 Dell monitors, and it's the god damn best monitor I've ever seen. Even when it's just used for Firefox/Skype etc - not BF3 Ultra (Looks amazing)
Main point, see if you can afford 2560x1440 if you go 27". Look at TechSyndicate (RazeTheW0rld on YouTube). I know they have links to some very good 27" monitors that costs around $270.

Thanks Spirit, I've found this ASUS VX238H 23" Widescreen LED Monitor. It looks really good and it is supposed to have an 80,000,000: 1 high contrast ratio. And it is considerably cheaper than many of the others. Do you have any feedback on this monitor? Also yeah, I don't want a 27", at first I'll just stick with a 24" or 23", whatever I can find the best deal on.
