Need help with unusal start up issue

The time has come to format my computer.

When I try to boot from cd-rom (to instal win 7) the computer will boot from cd-rom. However, my GPU starts randomly spinning faster to its max then after a few seconds the screen will go blank.

When normally starting up the computer everything works. I can use the computer, play video games, watch video with no issue.

The issue only seems to occur when doing anything prior to getting into windows. For example, it also occurs when fiddling in bios.

I'm not sure if the computer stays where it was (still operating) despite the screen going blank or not but the hardware still seems to be running.

Any help to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

Ok, really don't see an issue there. What model of motherboard do you have and do you know what bios revision is installed?

Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H

I believe its the most up-to-date bios. When I went to update it the latest on was from 2011 so I assume it's still up-to-date but I can double check that shortly.

P.S. thanks for helping so far

The latest version is f11. You can check this in the bios or you can run cpuz and it will tell you under the mainboard tab in the bios box.

So basically the screen blacks out in the bios or trying to boot from something? Try the onboard and see if the problem still happens.

On the off chance it is your video card, could you try a different one?

I don't have a different one unfortunately. I suppose I could borrow one from a friend but I dunno when I could do that.

I've tried the onboard but my MOBO says it requires a CPU that has graphics accelerator or something of that nature. My CPU says it requires an external graphics card.

So it didn't work.
