Blank screen after Windows Logo from Driver Update

For the record I'm a complete Computer numpty (as you will see in a minute)
After a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 64 bit I was installing an audio driver and followed it up with a restart. From this I got the old blank screen after the Windows logo where nothing would happen.
Now instead of tackling this problem like a rationale human being I checked it wasn't the RAM and after it was clear the memory wasn't the problem I went ahead and ran another fresh reinstall of Windows 7, like the tool that I am, and after it installed I had the exact same blank screen problem.
I realize I should have gone into safe mode and rolled back the driver(I think?!) So now I have no means of accessing the device manager to roll back the driver because I was a fool to just wipe the install of Windows that I had! Can someone help me?
If you need anymore info I will try to provide it!
Thanks for taking the time to read/respond if you did!

When you did the last reinstall did you delete all the partitions and reformat before installing?
And have you tried starting in safe mode since the last reinstall?

Yes I did delete all partitions and reformat. I attempted to go into safe mode but because there is no access beyond the Windows logo the initial setup of Windows 7 couldn't be completed. And of course I find out you can't boot into safe mode and complete the installation, it needs to be done in regular mode.

Any idea of how to rollback a driver through BIOS or something? Thanks for the reply.

A fresh install of windows shouldn't be having driver issues. You can't update drivers until windows has been completely installed anyway. So it seems you may have a hardware issue somewhere if you really did delete everything and start fresh. I would suggest using killdisk or dban to wipe the drive and start with a fresh install again.

I tried using the backup BIOS last night hoping it would work. It didn't. I booted up again the next day and everything was fixed?! The setup resumed and I was back at needing an audio driver - I installed the exact same driver which I downloaded from the Gigabyte website and yes it was the very driver I needed for the motherboard. I made a restore point, just incase, and installed the driver again.
Upon reinstall the blank screen happened again. I booted up in safe mode and rolled back the driver but I am still in the blank screen -_- I then used the system restore but alas no change.

What kind of computer is this, built or a OEM? Give a parts list or the model number.

Edit.

Plus what was the reason you were doing a reinstall?

Yes its usual start up happens. I can access BIOS if I need to then it boots up Windows. It gets as far as the logo then the blank screen with the mouse icon is the end.

So basically it could be your desktop but no icons are loading? Try this. When you get to the blank screen with the mouse cursor, do a ctrl-alt-del to see if you can bring up task manager. If so, go to application tab click on new task and type explorer and hit enter. Then see if your desktop finishes loading.

Gigabyte GA 970A DS3 rev 1.0 motherboard - built over a year ago.
I reinstalled because I got a new HDD - which I formatted, etc. I swapped my HDDs about to check it wasn't that and the problem still persists regardless.

I attempted this like you said but still no luck, nice try though!

It seems you're going into a resolution your monitor's not supporting. Why I said about the video drivers.

Have you looked in your BIOS and see what video you're defaulting to? On chip video or video card in the slot?

Ok. Can you give me a run through of where to go to check that? I have very little experience of navigating around there.

Boot to safe mode, change your screen resolution to 800 x 600 save changes and reboot to regular mode. Your desktop should now load. Find out what the native resolution is of your monitor and change it to that.

Screen resolution was already down as 800x600. I tried it with a few different resolutions but this was also unsuccessful.

Look in the back of your PC where your video cable is plugged in. See if you have another video port exactly like it. Most motherboards have a built in video port and you may have a video card in the slot.

The built in port is vertical and the card is horizontal.

This has worked for the moment! Thank you. I will attempt to install the audio drivers and get them working tomorrow. Should this not work then I will report back on here. :)
