How do I tell if it's a legit GTX 690 on the outside?

Hi guys,

This may be a very silly question... but I am buying a GTX 690 from some guy in person.

My question is... is there any way that person could have mounted the GTX 690 card case or something, on top of a card... say GTX 670 to make it look like it? Is there a quick way I can tell if it's a really GTX 690 from the outside?

Sorry, and thanks.

Kind of yes, look up some pictures of a gtx 690 and memorize how it looks like, the video connections arrangement etc... Then you can also look at the back side and make sure that it has 2 chips. The last thing you can do is look at the warranty stickers at the back of the card and ask the person to show you that it's a 690 in windows. If he still manages to rip you off you should congratulate him. I have no idea why he would lie to you in the first place though.

It should say on it mate. Be more clear as to why you suspect? Send pic?

Haven't done the trade yet. I am just surprised that this guy is giving me such a good price for it. He offered $650 for it. :S

Simply put: I am suspicious because the guy is offering me such a low price where I was only able to get a hold of GTX Titan or 690 for $850 minimum. And he seemed like he wanted to sell it to me right away. He gave me pics of the box itself and such but yea. Just wanted to make sure.

A stock 590 has two plates on the back covering the rear of each GPU, see below:

A GTX 690 does not, it has the whole PCB on show, see below:

You can also see the layout of the PCB is different in the middle

Before you buy, ask for a demo. It will take a few minutes for him to put it in run heaven benchmark or something to show it works without anything strange under load or heat being an issue, and take it out when you are there so you can see how well it runs

Thank you for the help. He took screenshots of the card inserted in the system and the LEDs come on and stuff. so I guess it's good.
Thanks all!
