I have a DELL Dual core 3.20ghs x2, 8GB with a VisionTek Radeon 5450 2 GB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card.

My question is will this card run a 2560 x 1440 monitor? Sorry for the noob question.:D

Thanks for your response in advance!

I'm pretty sure you have to use the DVI connection as VGA is limited to around 1920x1080p on non-CRT monitors.

Thanks guys!

So, DVI looks like it supports the max res and HDMI does not correct? If I'm not running audio out of the HDMI does it pick up the rest of the max res? Does that sound like a pipe dream?:D

As long as you are using a dual link DVI cable you will be able to pus that resolution. HDMI probably won't work for anything over 1200 unless you have HDMI 1.3/1.4/2.0. Anything below that will only work for 1920x1200.

I couldn't find what version it is on your card so I would check with the manufacturer if you are thinking about using HDMI.

What monitor are you looking at?

It's a ASUS PB278Q 27-Inch. It says it comes with a HDMI cable, DVI cable ETC.. I assume it's a 1.4 HDMI? The card in has a HDMI output.

If newegg has the correct specs it looks like it is HDMI 1.4. You just need to check what HDMI version your video card has.

I would just use the DVI if you do not need sound over hdmi.
