way to change form factor from 2.5" to 3.5"

Why John? Just a friendly Why, I am curious. Personally I like 8, way faster boot and jus a faster OS. Add a SSD, it can be on the Start menu in 8 seconds, 7 takes about 15 seconds to be at the desktop. Take advantage of that SSD OP and get 8! :D

Yes, windows 7 will be able to read more than 129 GB. Oh, and get Windows 8, not 7. And on toms, I knew because you said you had only 129 GB aialable ona 256 GB and also said you had the same board you had here and it was posted recently so yeah. Then my assumption was reinforced when I saw your signature was "I'll always be a n00b" and your username had n00b in it ;)

Okay, I got a little paranoid there. I started wondering if those clicks I heard on the other end of the telephone today were you :D Just kidding. I WILL always be a n00b :)

I will always suggest windows 7 over windows 8 but yes, windows 7 will not have an issue detecting the whole drive.

I installed Windows 8 on my mom's HP laptop, upgrade from Windows Vista. I wish she had gotten a chance to try out 7. I agree with the people who reviewed Windows 8 and said to give it about 2 weeks of continuous use before you diss it. It does take some getting used to. I, also, was amazed that even with her computer, circa I think 2006 or 2007, was booting faster than my self-built tower with 7 and no SSD. I think Windows 8 is great, but I know Windows 7 better. If I had a touch-screen laptop or a touch-screen monitor with my PC, I think I'd definitely go for Windows 8. I don't know. Maybe I'll sleep on it tonight and decide in the morning. I'd like to also configure my 1 tb SSHD so that the music, videos, pictures, and documents folders in libraries on the SSD looks for the files on my SSHD, another thing I have to figure out how to do.

You know, the only part of windows 8 that isn't really mouse friendly is the start menu, but it can be replaced with Pokki or Classic Shell.

Even the Start Screen isn't too bad to use with a mouse. Group all your most used items together so you don't have to scroll and hey presto.

Personally not having any problems with 8 or 8.1.

So Cromewell, I've never messed with the registry before. Should I look for an update to my SATA controller drivers on my/the ASUS motherboard website? And if so, when do I install this/these drivers? I mean at what point?

For the install time thing, they used to be called F6 drivers...they probably still are. If you are looking to change it to AHCI after installing, you don't need any drivers just a setting change. Again no promises it actually works, lots of people have done it without problem but anything could happen, save anything you need first.

Simple. I do this all the time. I always display the user folder on the desktop so they can easily access their documents, music, pictures etc. Click on the user folder and then right click on each of the following folders.

Music
Downloads
Pictures
Documents

After right clicking on one, click on properties, then click on location tab. Change the drive to where you want to store it at.

Wow. That does sound simple. Thanks, John!
