Modding my old Desktop

Ok the problem is with the Graphic card...

When I put in in, the screen stays black. I'm not using any screen VGAs directly connected to the graphic card, that might be the problem. Thing is, directly connected to the graphic card I only have HDMI or another one I can't name. The one on the far right of this picture. I don't have that VGA input...

I've installed the drivers before adding the card but it didn't change a thing...

You need to plug the monitor into the graphics card otherwise it won't work. You can't just simply plug the monitor into your onboard video (on your motherboard). Onboard video gets disabled when you install a graphics card.

No it doesn't in some cases, but right now it seems like that may be the problem, it's plugged into onboard video

Thing is I don't a VGA input on my graphic card, only the one on the right. What type of input is it? Is there any VGA/this adaptator?

The one on the far right of that picture is DVI and the one in the middle is HDMI.

You can get adapters.

If the onboard video is still install, on most boards, you have to uninstall the onboard first, then install the dedicated GPU and start the machine with the monitor connected to the new GPU. The resolution is gonna look at messed up, this is when to install the driver.

Since he has the drivers installed all he needs to do is plug the monitor into the graphics card.

Get a VGA to DVI adapter if need be. You can get them on eBay for pennies. Most graphics cards used to come with them.

Hey guys, as most of you know I've changed my PSU and Graphic Card on my current desktop.

At my parent's home I have an old (7 years) desktop with a band PSU and Graphic Card. I was thinking of putting my GeForce 405 and PSU in it. Will there be any compatibility issue?

It's a Compaq Presario SR1616NX:

Nah I'm running XP with a crappy Processor, I don't want to spend more on RAM, 1.4 GB is enough for what I want to do with it.

Bought one in store for 12 euros. I know it's expansive but I wanted to go to a store for that for some reason...

Got a DVI Male/ DB15 VGA adaptator, I hope that's what I needed...
