Upgrading Computer

Well I built this computer at the start of this year, and at the start of the summer the motherboard burnt out and I never got around to fix it. So I figured now would be the best time to do so. What I have:
CPU -AMD FX-6100
Case - Cooler Master HAF 912
GPU -PowerColor Raedon HD6850 1GB
PSU - OCZ ZS 750W 80+ Bronze
HD - Seagate 500gb
DVD drive - Samsung 22x

As you can see, I need a motherboard and ram, and wouldn't mind upgrading at the same time. I like to do some moderate gaming (Garry's Mod, TF2, LoL) but may get into more higher games. Would also like to be able to do video editing and stuff on it. My budget is around $500 CAD.

Thanks very much, Wil

I'd get an FX-8320, 8GB or 16GB of 1600MHz or faster RipJaws-X RAM (depending how well you're doing for money) and motherboard wise look at the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3.

Should come to around 500 or less. You can always sell your FX-6100 to make some money back I suppose.

Might be nice to upgrade your graphics card down the road too if you can afford it, but video editing you'll appreciate the CPU upgrade.

You think the eight-core would be that big of an upgrade? I was thinking more of keeping the CPU and upgrading the graphics card now rather than later.

You could do that if you like. The FX-6100 is a relatively weak CPU though - the 8320 is faster.

If you want to upgrade the graphics card, maybe look at the GTX 760 or an R9 270X or something like that perhaps.

What mobo and gpu would you recommend? I'd like to be able to add a second gpu in sli or crossfire in the future when I buy the new CPU.
