How many people can access a shared network drive?

Right now I am using windows XP and know that only 10 devices/users can access the shared network drive at a time. If more than 10 try to access it, the 11th device will be denied access.

I've been trying to search around Google for answers on windows 7 and windows 8 sharing capabilities.

Does anyone know how many users/devices can access a shared drive with windows 7 or 8?

Thanks in advance!

You can choose how many simultaneous connections you want to limit it to when you share it.

When I look at Advanced Sharing on my Win 8.1 and Win 7 Ultimate computers, the max number of users I can allow to simultaneously connect is 20. I tried larger numbers but it will only allow 20 max.

Another way to check would be to open a command prompt, type winver then click on Microsoft Software License Terms and scroll down to the section that talks about Device Connections. On my Win 8.1 computer it's in section 1 d. under Additional Terms.

Thank you for that.

I checked the XP machine and I was correct on that because it will only allow 10.

I checked my windows 7 Home machine and it says 20.

No you have windows 8 right? Does it also say 20 as well?
