Budget entry level gaming pc.

Hello folks, we just got our tax return and it's time to spend some $$$! Basically I have a limited budget and I have a fair idea as to what I am looking for. Essentially I want a pc that will be upgradable down the line. I am starting with the processor as the first point to this build and I want it to be an intel based rig. I realize the socket type for processors dictates the type of mobo necessary and I have been looking at the ivy bridge LGA2011 socket entry level enthusiast processor but at 300$ it is already adding up quickly and I haven't even started the build! I am absolutely new to this so any advise is welcome.

What I plan on doing with my pc: Gaming

Update: So i've been reading alot and I am starting to realize a socket 1150 i5 would be more than enough for most of my gaming needs. Keep in mind my budget is very limited! Ideally around the 800$ range, but if it's a little more I am not going to freak out.

What games are you planning on?

A good video card are what needed for gaming so it's a good chunk of your budget.

Also ideally 8GB of RAM is highly recommended amongst most games these days; but a GPU is priority for any intensive PC game.

Yes, I definitely want 8gig ram as well, the ram isn't too concerning to me as it appears that I can get it relatively cheap. I am just trying to toss around the mobo cpu gfx card combo on a tight budget without breaking the bank as that appears to be where the largest chunk of my money is going to go. Obviously I need all the additional things such as dvd drive/ hd/ psu/ os and everything. I have been messing around with pcpartpicker, but any additional advice or viable builds are welcome.
