hey all!

I know this motherboard is old, but i need help!

I have my brother's old gaming computer and I want to use it. I want to install new parts in to the computer. It currently has 12GB RAM, 2 295's and a 1 TB HDD. Not sure about CPU.

I am wondering if the 2 295's are any good still
If i can get more RAM, and what kind, 1336, 1600, 2000 etc..
I want a SDD and a HDD (1TB) what kinds would be good.
And what CPU would be good?

THANKS GUYS!! Seriously, this would help immensly.

Can you tell us the make and model of the motherboard and/or the make and model of the PC if it was purchased as a whole?

Also, you don't need more RAM.

Before you spend any money what games do you want to play? What games can you play on it now? Your board can handle PCI-Express video cards so you have a number of options.

If you can tell us the make and model of your current video cards and what cpu is installed.

Also, and this is important, give us the brand of ppower supply and the wattage it provides.

I know it is running two GTX 295's:

i want to play diablo, random steam games, GW2, swtor. and other games that require good graphics.

Is it your hard drive that is preventing you from running it?

BTW those 295's were really powerful cards in their day and probably still are. before upgrading, once you get this running, try playing a few of those games.

The GTX 295 is indeed a good card. My friend, with a GTX 260 or 270, played BF3 1920x1080p on low-medium settings fluently with an i7-920 @stock, so 2xGTX 295 with newer drivers should be more than adequate for modern games.

Samsung Evo 840 SSD
Windows 7/8.1 64bit

Download PC Wizard from my sig, install it and go to FILE, SAVE AS and click OK. Copy the text out of that file into this thread. (so we can no your full specs)

The problem is I cannot get the PC running. I tried to install windows 7 on it and it would freeze when I got through the installation process.. I don't know how to make it run to be honest.

I will try to get it running and then test and do the PC wizard then to make sure it is still good.

Im not sure the problem. I don't think the OS works. It had Vista on it and I want to put Win. 7 on it.

Sweet. Ill try to figure out if they are still good and how good they are.
