Fold@Home for Climate - C

The best way is to figure out how they lowered the temperature in the Cretaceous period. When it was 6 to 8c warmer then it is now and had 5 times the carbon dioxide levels. But it still might not work. Because over the last 2 million years the climate has jumped from ice ages to warm periods. Kinda like it changes now. Guess it didn't work. But cooling the sun or changing the earths orbit might help. Oh, I forgot that happens on it own. Back to square one.

And your credentials are? Oh wait... Back to square one.

This is about computing, please don't troll with nonsense.

Now that is funny as heck......
Run up the power usage creating more "greenhouse" gases.

Sorry, I'll stick to the medical sciences and not something that has been perverted by money, politics, control and power.
Once you all have got China, India and Brazil to bring their emissions down to the level here in the USA I will join the discussion until then our further reductions is nothing but a joke that is killing our economy.

Lol. Are you tripping? Firstly you don't run up greenhouse gases if you have renewable energy like i do....

China - 8300MT/year
USA - 5600MT/year
India - 1695MT/year
Brazil -453MT/year

So as you can see on 2010 metric tonnes, USA is the second highest of all, and the highest per capita.

Medical sciences have been the most corrupt, politically driven area of science in the world for a long time. Do i need to educate you on the pharmaceutical industry?? I mean come on.

Your comment on the economy just shows how little you understand about the true costs of climate change, and inaction, let alone the benefits of action.

Bogan stuff....

BUT - this is my post, and its not about whether you believe in the science or not, i couldn't care less... so please stop trolling, keep to the topic.

Those who do like climate models can run one from home, and there are many on this forum that may like this. So unless you have something constructive to say about the topic... just leave it out.

A lot of people are not using "green" energy so asking them to increase their power usage to run that program is asking them to increase greenhouse gases, that is what I found funny.

As to the emissions I wasn't referring to overall but to per smokestack, tail pipe etc.
It gets to the point where it is too expensive to reduce those lower than current levels.
Many companies have fled the country for manufacturing in other countries because the restrictions are to costly and labor is cheaper.
When basing on totals of course the larger countries are putting out more because of land size, population and industry base.
Get back to me when those other countries I mentioned match the emission levels per smoke stack, tail pipe etc.

Dude, seriously, come on. Whatever measure you want to use, the USA has one of the highest, if not highest per capita of ghg emissions in the world. Secondly, even if you use a 120W CPU 24/7 at 365 days a week then deduct what you wouldve used it for (say 4 hours at 80% load per day every day of the week), you'll generate around 1.1TCO2e consuming power from the worst efficiency thermal coal fired power plant (brown). That cost about $25 to purchase a Gold Standard International offset, which in most countries is tax deductable. So yeah, not much at all.

But please, start your own thread, because I really cannot be bothered schooling you in the basics.. this thread is about the climate model, which btw is hindcasting, so its very very accurate.

What is awesome about this model is that it uses REAL observed data for 2012 - 2013 and then compares the outcome of the model with REAL weather and climate observations. The graphical output is pretty neat too. BTW, the guys at Berkley University are no dummies..
