I have a Mikomi webcam,

I have tried almost everything, even re-installed windows xp

After I download the drivers from the disc I go ahead and plug in the devise, I always get an error message, it says

USB device not recognized

Unknown device. and in device manager it says No drivers are installed for this device. Details (hardware id USB/UNKNOWN

In ampcam it says sorry you have no video capture hardware.

remember im getting all these error messages after installing the drivers..when I plug in the cam the green light comes on for 3 sec. So it cant be a hardware issue. I have tried to install the drivers manually from the file they are located in, and all it tells me is we could not find a better match. ???? Does anyone know the link where I can download the drivers again, maybe the drivers on my disc are corrupt. I have had this Cam work before on a different pc. Look forward to your imput ,

usb device not recognized means you may have a faulty usb ports or an issue with the power supply. Do other usb devices work on this computer?

Yes, all other usb devises work fine.

I also plugged the cam into a different computer and got the same message,

USB device not recognized
has malfunctioned

(forgot to say that the error also said malfunctioned) so im thinking more its a hardware fault with the cam itself, has not been used for awhile, been in the drawer for a good year, and around the usb plug seems to be a very very very slight amount of corrosion

Then its definately the camera or possibly the corrosion on the plug. I would just get a new webcam.

When out and bought a new cam, works great. Lesson is, usb plugs tend to fail if not used for awhile and when stored in a damp area for along time.

true, but where it was stored for about a year was in a drawer that was damp. I just bought another cam for £8.00 and its works like a charm.
