I have a Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4, Intel X79, Socket 2011 motherboard and im looking for a 8 core processor does anybody know a good one oh and the ram is 64gb Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Jet Black, PC3-12800 (1600mhz) 4 channel
The X79 is only for socket 2011, which they don't have any 8 core CPU's for, all other desktop chipsets only support up to 32GB of RAM I believe. As far as desktop CPU's go, Intel doesn't even make 8 core CPU's yet.ok then what Intel motherboard do I need out of the x79 which could take
64gb ram
on the scan computer website there is 17 Intel Xeon 8 core processors how do I get a motherboard to fit them thanks
None, the 3930k.As John stated, they only have 6 core CPU's for that socket, you can see them here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...25&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20
The cheapest 6 core is a 3.4GHz i7-4930K @ $580 and the price go up to a little over $1,000.
Huh?None, the 3930k.
I use the computer for downloading and gamming so what`s the best 6 core then for Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4, Intel X79, Socket 2011
What is the rest of your setup? There have been numerous benchmarks comparing lower model i7's to high end i7's, with all else being equal the results were pretty much identical. If you use your computer for gaming, you want to upgrade the GPU, the CPU is not the bottleneck.would this Intel Core i7 Extreme 4960X be any good
I don't get that chart, it lists the 22nm Xeon's, but on the right it says N/A for not supported.Just to clear some things up you can use 2011 xeon processor on that motherboard
http://www.gigabyte.us/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4288 and i know for sure one of them is an 8 core. Though if you're just playing games and downloading things there is no need to get a xeon. a 3930k/4930k would be more than enough and you can overclock it unlike the xeons.
