RAM Problems

So, I recently noticed that, while I have 4x4Gb RAM sticks in my mobo, my computer was only using 8Gb of it. So after some messing around, and trying every stick in every card slot, I discovered that all the sticks still work fine, and as do all the slots. However, if I put in 3 or 4 sticks at once, only 8Gb is ever used. I'm not sure why this is, as everything is working perfectly, however no configuration will give me 12 or 16Gb from the RAM. If someone has any idea why this might be help would be appreciated!

How are you telling how much memory is showing? Windows/CPUz? What motherboard do you have?
I'm using the BIOS to tell, so I put one stick in each slot, got 4Gb total memory, put a second in each, got 8Gb every slot, then after that no matter how I arrange the sticks I get no more than 8Gb under Total Memory.

I have an Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard.

EDIT: I also checked through Windows, and it says 8192Mb the exact same as the BIOS.

Three things:

1) You need to configure a XMP profile or RAM setting in BIOS.

2) You need to update the BIOS and/or chipset drivers.

3)It's a faulty motherboard.

Here's something else.

1.type msconfig in the Search programs and files box, and then click msconfig in the Programs list.

2.In the System Configuration window, click Advanced options on the Boot tab.

3.Click to clear the Maximum memory check box, and then click OK.

4.Restart the computer.
