Graphics card problem

Hi, I just installed a GeForce GTX 550 Ti with a 6 pin power adapter plugged into it from the power supply. When I turn my system on everything seems to work perfectly but shows no display on the monito or my tv. Here are my specs: AMD FX 4170 Black edition 4.2GHz with an ASRock 970 Extreme3 motherboard with 8 GB or ram. All this is on a 535W enermax power supply.

Did you check to see if the fan was running on the video card? Did you try the video card in another system?

Make sure the graphics card is properly seated in the PCIe slot. Turn off integrated graphics in the BIOS.

Your PSU is not really sufficient for that graphics card with only 18A max on the 12V rail. Thats only, 216W, derated around 150W max. The graphics card by itself can use over 110W.

IMO you need a new PSU regardless. In the meantime i recommend you update the BIOS as there have been various graphics related modifications http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970 Extreme3/?cat=Download&os=BIOS

I have just bought a new modular psu 750W after trying the card upgrade in a friends computer, at which it worked in that build. The card still will not display anything on the monitor or my hdtv. I inserted the other card just to see if it worked and it did not. What can I do?

So the new card works in your friends computer but not in yours? The old card now does not work in your system? I would say you have a bad motherboard.

I went to the same setup I had before but with the upgraded graphics card and everything works perfectly.
