Hello,
Alright, so I've been shopping around on newegg and various review sites to try and find the perfect laptop. I've had an absolute crap laptop since like 7th grade, it's a compaq, it's terrible, it burns me and it's loud as hell and pretty much won't run anything, i hate it. (Who buys compaqs right?).
After putting in all the specifications and features I would like on newegg, the Asus ROG G750JW-RB71-CB seems the best, however there's also a G750JW-BB17N05 model. Then, there's the JM model, and i think there's some others too. The only one that came up in my search initially was the first one mentioned, and it seemed awesome. It's got a 2 TB hard drive (2 hard drives inside!) 16 GB ram, Intel core i7-4700HQ(2.40GHz) and more bells and whistles. Now, this one is slightly more expensive than the g750JW-BB17n05, but it "seems" better. But here's where my tech knowledge falls short. I'm just not sure which are better. I'll talk mainly about two models, but i'll link several.
The only obvious downfalls which aren't even that bad I don't think is that the display type of the first model mentioned (G750JW-RB71-CB) is not quite full HD, it's 1600x900 but that's not too bad really, and also the graphics card isn't the top of the line, it's the NVIDIA GeForceGTX765. I guess there are better ones out there, but I'm just not sure how much of a difference it will make for me.
Now the part about this first model that make it seem like a winner is that it's got freakin 2 TB of hard drive from the get go and 16 GB of ram while the other has 1 TB and 8 GB ram. ALSO, the first one is smaller and lighter, which i prefer, since i'm not suuuper picky about huge screen size and while 7 ish pounds isn't a light laptop at all, it's plenty fine for me, and I will be taking it around, and the 9.9 lb model just seems like it's a liiiiiiittle too much....
I just can't figure out if it's worth it to get the better graphics card and HD screen, if it's really going to be something I need. Both of these models are refurbished on newegg, however the first model, the one that seems great only has 1 review. I don't really get it, because the less expensive one has several, and they're mostly really good reviews. Also, when searching for the G750JW-RB71-CB model, I can't find a whole lot of information.
Here are links for the G750JW-RB71-CB, the G750JW-BBI7N05 and then here's some more which I haven't even really gotten into yet uggggh this is frustrating Dx. The G750JW-DB71 (which i think is more than i'd like to spend), the G750JM-DS71 then there's this G550JK-DS71 which is out of stock but I saw it recommended here on another thread.
So here's what I'll be using my laptop for mainly, things bolded are things I NEED To be able to do without issues, and the rest are just things I'd really like to be able to do:
My guess is i wouldn't have any issue with any of those things with any of these models, but i thought i should put that out there in case anyone wants to mention any other laptops that would be great as well.
My price range is ~$1,000 but I think I could go up to 1,100 maybe 1,200 max or below. But i don't want to sacrifice very much, I want the absolute best bang for my buck, I'm sick of mediocre computers!
Sorry for being so long winded but I really want to make the right choice!
Thanks!

- Use Photoshop
- Use DAWs such as FL studio
- Obviously surf the web and navigate things quickly
- Play some games such as Skyrim or Sims 4 (when it comes out!)
- Watch movies
My guess is i wouldn't have any issue with any of those things with any of these models, but i thought i should put that out there in case anyone wants to mention any other laptops that would be great as well.
