Best motherboard for the i5 4690?

If going ATX then get a Gigabyte Z97 board. Whats your budget and needs?

Well I know I'm putting a Gigabyte R9 270X video card on it which is over 15 inches long and it should have the ability to house about 16 USB's because I do not like HUBs and I'm thinking around $150 but if I see a good deal I'll go up to $200

Show me a motherboard that will support 16 usb devices without the need for either a hub or an add usb port cards that would attach to the usb 2.0 or 3.0 headers on the motherboard? Most motherboards will only support 6 or 8 on the exterior itself. Most cases only have 2 to 4 (5 if you are lucky) front usb ports.

$140 Will give you 8 usb ports on the back and whatever you can manage from the usb headers on the motherboard. How many ports does your case have?

Remember I used the word "House" Of course you have to connect to the motherboards USB ports but a lot of motherboard won't give you that many. I need more than 16 but 16 will do. The case supports 2 and the motherboard looks like it will support 4 more and I can always use a card for 4 more. I'm going to bookmark the motherboard because it looks like it will do the job because I'm pretty much an average user. Thanks

If you need that many what's wrong with a hub? It's not like it does anything all that different than connecting a bunch of headers.

If USB ports is your primary criteria, this one has support for 16, as mentioned you'll need some kind of header to port breakout to connect, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130770. I'd just use hubs myself, but to each their own.

Cameras, and web cams not to mention a lot of others don't work or don't work well on HUBS. Thanks for the link, I did bookmark it.

MSI Z97 U3 Plus has 10 usb at the back.
Then getting the card reader I mentioned above, this will get you total of 16 usb.
And assuming you could have another 2 on the case.

I will be sticking the i5 4690 on it but I don't know what RAM to get. Isn't the 1866 the highest without overclocking?

Get a Z97X-UD3H or UD4H (if they still exist) or a UD5H.

You can go beyond 1866MHz but for the best price:performance get 1866. G.Skill RipJaws-X is good stuff.

The 'official spec' only goes up to 1600, but the IMC certainly doesn't have any problem using faster RAM. Therefore, anything beyond that would technically be 'overclocking'.
