IDE Connected HDD, want SATA HDD

Hi, I have an MSI mobo that needs more space. My problem is that the board only has the bigger SATA connector (40-pin) and none for the newer hard drives.

I've added a picture to show the connections I'm talking about. The bigger one is the style of the hard drive I have in, and the small one is the new hard drive connector.

Here's a possible converter. Will it burn up my mobo?

The bigger ribbon cable is called an IDE cable for IDE hard drives and cd drives. If you need more space and want to use a Sata hard drive then get one of these if you have an open Pci slot.

Either that, or download CPU-Z and post the motherboard model.

I went with the PCI bus. It's simple and the data transfer speed is going to be choked no matter what converter/adapter there is out there. I also talked to the computer guru at my college and he was along the same lines, learned a bit talking to him. Anyways thanks for the NewEgg link :good:
