I can start PC and all the programs load OK, then a few minutes later a message appears saying it has to shut down to prevent damage. Message says a lot more but it shuts down to fast for me to read it all. I can start in safe mode, but don't know what to do or look for. What safe mode to use? Hope one of you can help me through this. I have a dell inspiron 580 The only recent changes were a windows update and a nvedia GF 9500GT driver update.

Boot to safe mode options and choose to disable automatic restart on system failure.

However, lets see if some minidumps have been created.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Will do. Must warn you that I am not to fast, have a shaking disorder, essential tremor. Will get back to you as soon as I have it done. Thanks!

Here it is. Hope the answer is in there somewhere. :P

All these come back at tdx.sys causing the blue screen. Tdx.sys is windows file so we need to figure out what exactly is causing this. Could be memory issue or something else. Lets do the following. Please zip up the following files and attach them to your next post.

C:\Windows\Minidump\022615-22620-01.dmp
C:\Windows\Minidump\022515-23868-01.dmp
C:\Windows\Minidump\022515-21138-01.dmp
C:\Windows\Minidump\022515-30981-01.dmp

I have exceeded my upload file amount, so the 022615-22620-01.zip file I made cant be uploaded.

Do you have an Nvidia video card? These dumps are coming back nvbackend.exe is causing the blue screen. Try updating the video card drivers first and see if they stop.

yes I have an Nvidia video card, a few days ago the driver was updated. Should I rollback the update?

It still shutting down within a minute or so after the rollback. I also tried installing the drivers again, but it is still crashing.

Did you reboot the system after the rollback? Also check to see there is any software in add/remove programs called nvbackend. Look in your windows update history and tell me what updates were installed. You can also try doing a system restore back to a time before the driver update and windows update.

My pc is not wireless, but my router is. Is that what you mean? Will do it later tonight and take a look at the link you posted. Thanks a lot! Will post later or tomorrow.

Never mind then. I just assumed you did since somebody else had that fix their issue with the same BSOD cause.

Johnb35 and Darren I want to thank you both for your help and patience.
I did a system restore that removed both the windows and nvidia updates, that cured the problem. Yea! But did I need those updates? Should I just block those particular ones from being loaded in the future?

nvidia update came with the windows update, as optional. PC telling me now that those two updates are available. Nvidia telling me same thing.
