My laptop just gave me a crash dump notification, and a choice to start my system normally, or select the SAFE mode method. I didn't know what all might be entailed/required by the safe mode method - so I chose the regular choice. The screen, then, went black (or very dark blue) and remained that way for quite a while. In fact, the only thing that was visible, on the screen, was the mouse pointer. I shut it down (physically) and, after a short period, pressed the power button. This time, no notice (as before) - just that dark screen.
I have some stuff to get done, so I hit the F10 button - upon next attempt at booting - to arrive at the screen for system restoration/formatting. It is going through that process right now.
But isn't there a way to recover from a crash dump without having to go through the extreme measure of formatting?
