Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100P space

So my dad gave me his old smartphone, it's running Android 4.1.2.

It tells me it has 2GB of internal space and 10GB of USB storage. The problem is I can't seem to find a way to install my apps on that USB storage so I'm stuck with no more than 2GB of apps...

Any ideas on how to change that? I'm such a newbie in the smartphone World...

EDIT: I do not have an SD Card.

Not sure what it means by USB storage but Android version 4.4 and earlier only support installed apps on what it considers the "C" drive so to speak from a computer perspective. It doesn't let you install apps to the external storage medium by default and there's no real way around that. A root might let you but I have no experience (paging Geoff).

I for example have 32GB of storage onboard and a 16GB SD card. I can't install any apps to the SD card. I'd guess the S2 has some sort of dedicated storage in the form of 2GB and then the 10GB is separate. Why? I have no clue. Some bigger apps will only download an installer when you get it from the app store and then when you launch it, it will make you download the actual game and sometimes it will let you install it the external storage. This is not very common, but I have seen it.

Doing some reading and it was a limitation of an older Android version. What I've found said it was fixed with the most recent Android version. Make sure you're fully up to date.

I checked for updates, it tells me I am fully up to date...

The S2 won't get any updates past what he already has.

So what does it say when you go into Settings>Storage?

Yeah I know it's capped at 4.1.x. Just from what I've read it's a common problem and was fixed for most people by being on 4.1.2 or higher. All the fixes I've found (aside from update) require a root as well.

Settings > Applications

What happens when you click on an application? Does it give you the option to move it to USB? My guess is the phone is treating USB storage as external storage, as on 4.1 apps can't be moved.

Have you done any research about this outside of here because I found the internet just drowning in articles about this issue.

Nope, it gives me the option to move to SD Card which I don't have...

I actually changed my keywords and found similar threads but with no answers... Any ideas?

I'll probably end up buying an SD Card but that's a waste of money since I have 10GB free on my USB storage...

After a few days of research on the web, no one has any answers.

I took the 8GB SD Card from my other phone and will be using that. I guess the USB storage was a bad move from Samsung and was supposed to be used for music, photos and videos...
