CPU hot

I have an HP Envy M-6-1205DX laptop. CPU temp is extremely high. I have ensured that the fan is cleaned and re-pasted the CPU and heat sink. At idle the temp is 98 degrees C. Cant seem to get the temp down.

CPU is an AMD A10-4600M

How hot was it before you replaced the thermal paste? Can you verify that the fan is working? When your computer is "idle", what is the CPU load at?

90 something degrees per Speccy. Right now at idle it is 85 degrees but its still in the red per Speccy.

The fan is working

CPU at first was at 30% but right now its at around 2%. These are at idle.

When it was at 30% I noticed Chromium was using most of that so i ended about 7 or 8 processes for that. That is why the % went down.

Do you actually feel hot air blowing out? The app might be reading an incorrect value.

Funny thing you mentioned this. A few minutes ago I felt the laptop above the CPU and it felt normal. The air coming out of the vent is not hot air. Prior to cleaning the fan and vent and pasting the CPU you could feel the heat. Do you think its Speccy or the laptops system? Should I try another and if so what? The laptop is not shutting down like before I cleaned out fan and vent and re-pasted heat sink/CPU.

You could have a bad temp sensor. If you aren't feeling hot air coming out then you should be fine. At that high of temp your fan should be racing all the time. Is it?

It is turning normal. Sounds like any other laptop. Its not screaming.

Where exactly is the temp sensor? Embedded in the board?
