My Video Card Purchase

I might be buying a video card for my computer pretty soon; maybe not. It seems video cards are a great thing to own. That is, own. I don't want anything that will turn my desktop topsy turvey. I use the vga plug on my motherboard and it works fine, for games and everything else. So why do I want a video card? That's funny because I really don't. To tell you the truth would hurt a bit, so I'll give it to you straight. I love the way they feel. I love everything there is to love about the video card. When I plug it in, I love that new feeling you get and that eye candy. That's all. But I sure would like a video card. If I get one, it'll be fast & very expensive.

This thread is somewhat unsettling because OP appears to be having a conversation with himself within his own post.

Haha you don't want one but you basically say you love them?

Should get a GTX 980 Ti or two and put them on your shelf for display or something. ;)

Video cards are great, but I'm not sure I want one. It seems that video cards very by type and brand, so they all interact with your system differently; and do things differently as well. This alone doesn't matter, and yes it kind of does. That's the dilemma, there appears to be two truths unfolding right now. Easily I can say, ATI versus NVIDIA. I hope you understand. Many types. I'm simply using my vga plug on my computer, AND yes, it does work! It gets complicated when selecting a video card, and that is part of the fun. Breaking away from my current skizm is a possibility. Should I or shouldn't I?

I really don't know what to recommend - first time in Computer Forum history that I've not been able to recommend a video card to somebody! I guess since you like just plugging it in and looking at it but don't really utilise it you should get something cheap. But the cheap cards look really lame, so you probably want to go mid-range because at least you'll get a decent length and it'll be dual-slot so it will look powerful, so maybe something like a GTX 750 Ti or 960 or R9 270X?

He clearly doesn't want one because he's "perfectly happy plugging his VGA into his motherboard".

You could also buy a Dodge Neon and add 25 neon lights, cardboard ground effects, an imposing muffler, and a spoiler. It will look fast!

If you want to game, you need a dedicated video card for any current gen game if you want to have an enjoyable experience.
