CPU Upgrade Comparison?

In addition, the upgrade itself would not be great enough to justify the cost of a new motherboard and CPU.

For video editing, the X99 platform would be a better investment (although you would also have to factor in new RAM). The 6 core CPU should give you a large boost from having additional hardware resources.

What applications do you encode with?
Do you have an overclock on your 2700K?

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed to know.

What are you talking about? PEFORMANCE UPGRADE? Plus, these are both iCore for pete's sake. When most people use computers they are concerned with how the CPU operates, not how it will 'bencnmark.' What tasks it can perform and how it goes about it and so forth are issues. FPS isn't an issue on ANY computer!

What the hell is any of this supposed to mean?

And yes, "performance upgrades" are a real thing. A Core i7 4790K will outperform a Core i7 970 because it's a newer processor.

Performance upgrade meaning an improvement in performance.

Just because they are both i-series, doesn't mean they are compatible. They are different sockets.

And yes, many of us care about benchmarks and FPS, as many of us game.
