I having resolution problems using a hdmi cord with my 32 inch tv. My tv only has vga and my graphics card has dvi. I have a vga cord but, What dvi converter do I need? graphics card is amd 5850 and I have a r9 390 getting shipped to me. I only want to spend $5 on this connector I see tons of them on ebay and have no idea which one to get.
What dvi connecter to buy?

Facedesk. You'll still end up with garbage, and likely the same situation for when you cheaped out on the HDMI cord.
What exact issues are you having, anyway? Usually resolution is a driver related issue, or you didn't assign the correct resolution to the display if it wasn't detected automatically.
What model of TV is it? Most cheapy TVs only supported 720p.

What do you mean my hdmi cord is fine I believe. My Tv is most likely the problem or my 5850. I haven't tried the r9 390 yet. The Tv is Sanyo D1480758543871
Actually the dvi to vga looked pretty nice basically the same as hdmi. I used it before but, I lost the cord and forgot what connector I was using.
The issue is hard to explain with hdmi I can only use 1360-768. If i change the resolution at all The colors look off tv will look extra bright and letters are blurry. I did use over scan to make it fit
