Best cpu for 970 chip set mb?

What is the best possible/compatible cpu for a ASUS Essentio CM1855-CA001S AM3+ chipset 970 Motherboard.Not looking for bang for buck, looking for the best possible cpu. bios is 1105.
 
What do you already have? The specs tend to vary, but those machines can come with up to an 8120 from what I can see. I can't find the specific motherboard in that machine so I can't give you a definitive answer.

Given that it's an AM3+ board, it supports Bulldozer and Vishera processors. However you might need to do a BIOS update to get support for Vishera. Even then it might not support the highest offerings in those lines. We'd need to know the exact motherboard to be able to answer that. The 8350 is the highest end Vishera chip while the highest Bulldozer is an 8150.

If you've already got one of the 6 or 8 core processors in there, there's no use spending any money on it. That socket is dead and you'd gain very little by spending money on it as the best processors for it are already a couple years old and not a whole lot better than what you likely already have. If you've got one of the quad cores though, then an upgrade might be worth it.

Have been looking on the internet and still cant pin point the exact motherboard in this machine.I have a fx 6300 CPU ---GPU--- gtx 770 oc edition. PS--- is 1000watts.The only specs i know on the motherboard is its 970 chipset and is am3+.
