Fix for trackpad Macbook Pro (2011)

Holy crap this place is still here...it's been a while.

So I have this EDIT: It's actually a 2009 13" Macbook Pro I've been using around the house, nothing bleeding edge but it works for what I need. One thing that drives me insane is the trackpad..dragging anything is a massive pain, because in order to drag you have to physically click down, and while clicking down and dragging the damn thing likes to stop dragging way before you're done. This wouldn't be so bad, but OSX seems to make me drag at times, the right click menu seems to lack some common things (Like "cut" or "move".. there's copy but sometimes I want to move something, not make copies).

I know of the mechanical fixes, or at least the "turn laptop on side and click fast and forcefully for a min or so" and the little screw under the battery. Both don't really work, so is there a software solution? Something that works like a Windows Laptop, like the double tap then drag action?

Any help appreciated, it's not always handy to pack a cordless mouse everywhere.

Did you actually try the adjustment screw? It adjusts the amount of travel needed to register the click. There is a double tap to drag setting under trackpad in system preferences.

I did try the screw, it improved a little, but not enough to a satisfactory level. I didn't see a double tap to drag option, but there was a three finger drag option. This works infinitely better than clicking down. Thank you Geoff!

What operating system are you running? I swear back in 10.9 or 10.10 there was a double tap and drag gesture.

10.7.1. I guess I should update, haha.

Edit: Ok, at 10.7.5 now. I see El Capitan in the App store, but it seems to have crap reviews, lots of people say to stick with Yosemite. Is there anyway to upgrade to Yosemite, since it no longer appears in the App store?

10.7 was a horrible OS, anything is better than Lion. Unfortunately you can only get the latest from the App Store.
