I have a laptop 7 years old with original vista Windows CD .
Whenever I feel that it has virus I format it completely and reinstall Windows with genuine Windows from Microsoft, but I don't know that all kind of virus can be removed by reinstalltion or not? Because after a couple of weeks I find that same problem, like less capacity in drive C (it seems that is is about full) .

Formatting Windows partition and reinstalling Windows removes all viruses. That doesn't mean viruses can infect your machine after reinstallation.

However, problem seems to be elsewehere. How big is your hard drive and how big is Windows partition (drive C)?

Partition is 40 GB and has only one partition. And also hasn't too many other software or media. But after reinstalltion I get too many Windows vista notifications for updates, whenever I update too much ( 3 time weekly) then I recognize that it's going to take more places in hard drive .
Thanks

Your hard drive is way too small. You can get a 500gb drive for about $50 anymore.
Do mean that too many updates of Windows vista is normal? (3 times in weeks) and also I need only my window not too many other programs to get more capacity.

40 gb drive for any windows OS is too small. Windows Vista when originally installed will take up about 15gb. Once you start getting windows updates you will be closer to about 20-25 gb. Then you have your own programs to install and you'll be eating up the rest of your space.

If I buy 500 gb hard drive can my laptop support it (2 gb ram ) ?

Yes, but only running 2gb of ram on vista will be slow. What model of laptop do you have? You should add more ram if possible.

Toshiba Laptop 7 yeas old
Satellite A135-S2386
Processor : Genuine Intel CPU 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz
RAM : 1.50 GB
Hard Disk : 75 GB
OP System : Windows Vista
According to following specification can i increase the capicity of Hard drive ?

Unfortunately, you can't upgrade the ram in that. 2gb is max. Did you remove existing drive to put in a smaller 40gb drive? Original drive was 80gb.

If your drive is actually 80gb I bet you have 2 partitions. You need to delete both partitions and then use the full size of the drive. You can do this by using the install cd.

As others have said, it's not a virus, your hard drive is just way too small. After you format and install Windows you end up installing applications and saving data, which fill your hard drive. Honestly, with a 7 year old laptop with those specs you should look at getting a new laptop.

No. In order to get back to one partition, you have to delete both 40gb partitions. At that point you will have an unallocated 80gb partition and you install windows on that.

Doses it mean I don't need to have two partition (only one partition 80 gb) ?
