Mostly new stuff, bluescreens and borked install

Recap: Old setup in signature used to boot loop and was just broken. The motherboard was toast.

Just bought a 6600K, new motherboard, new RAM. Old card and SSD were used.

Installed windows today, upon completing the install and typing in my name it bluescreened, due to something being terminated (BSOD was only on for 1/3 a second)
Now when I boot up, I have to try type in my name and it says it's already in use, but I can't log in to that account as it doesn't give me the option.
If I type in another name, it hangs, then bluescreens.

What's broken? SSD?

I would try reinstalling windows again, this time making sure you delete existing partitions and create new. See if it still happens. Since you can't even get into windows, we can't even test to see why it bluescreens.

I did that last time. There didn't seem to be an option to wipe everything, but I did as clean of an install as I could.
I'm trying to source another HDD to test install, but no luck yet.
I also didn't even get the chance to install drivers. And I can't safe mode as it says Windows hasn't installed yet

Try installing Windows without the graphics card installed and see if you can use the system with only the onboard video enabled.

Small result: put a semi-broken hard drive in, booted just fine from Ubuntu. Checked the SMART data for my SSD and it said sectors were failing. Not enough to warrant telling me anything: but it must be enough that it wouldn't hold data.

At any rate, I have a shiny new 256gb SSD being delivered today. We'll see.

Let's hope that it works. This is the first time I've heard of an SSD going - I had one that died too. These things happen but keep us posted!
