Using Ironkey

My wife was just given an Ironkey USB for a new job she just started (not the NSA:)). After doing some research on it, I was wondering what your thought are on using this thumb drive for even just personal information. For instance if I am transporting a Quicken file from one computer to another? Or what about for storing all of our passwords, we have almost 50 different ones?

You could easily use a password manager like KeePass.
If you wanted it to be transportable then you can copy the database file to your USB stick, the file would already be encrypted but then encrypted again via the Ironkey.

The Ironkey is decent since it encrypts everything by default, but you can get similar behavior with something like Bitlocker or equivalent..

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying that files are automatically encrypted when copied to any stick? Or just the Ironkey. Also not familiar with KeePass or Bitlocker, but sounds like something worth investigating, especially with all of our passwords. Presently I just keep them on an Excel spreadsheet (I know that's not the smartest).

I just posted a similar question on the Internet discussion posts as there appears to be a thread already talking about this. Thanks

Just the Ironkey, otherwise your junk is completely in clear text and anyone can just copy files, unless you manually use some other encryption layer for the data itself.

there appears to be a thread already talking about this.

That is, if you're content with a thread from 6 months ago ;)

Not necessarily, but I was trying to avoid "recreating the wheel". I've been a member long enough to know that sometimes people post questions when there is already an answer. Just trying not to be one of those:)
With that being said, I would like some more discussion about KeePass vs Google Chrome on saving passwords. Where would I post that question?
