I'm a beginner, is this a good beginner build?

I really want to know a lot about computers, how to fix them, how to build, and take care of one. I have two questions and would love to get answers. I may have follow up questions.

Question 1) Is this a good beginner build with these specs:
Motherboard: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA1150 DDR3 M.2 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Intel Z97 ATX
Graphics Card: MSI Computer NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5
Processor: Intel Core BX80646I74790K i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz)
Ram: G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C7D-16GTX
Hard Drive: WD Red Pro 3TB NAS Desktop Hard Disk Drive - Intellipower SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD3001FFSX
SSD: Crucial BX100 250GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive - CT250BX100SSD1
Power Supply: Corsair RM Series, RM750, 750 Watt (750W), Fully Modular Power Supply, 80+ Gold Certified
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 mid tower Computer case with high airflow design

Mouse: Redragon M601 CENTROPHORUS-2000 DPI Gaming Mouse for PC, 6 Buttons, Weight Tuning Set, Omron Micro Switches
Speakers: Logitech Multimedia speakers Z200 with stereo sound for multiple devices

Question 2) If this is a good computer build, what tips do you have for me about building it?

Components are fine. I'd swap out the SSD with a Samsung Evo 850 instead though.
Also just because I hate stock Intel heatsinks, I'd recommend something like the CoolerMaster Hyper 212.

What are you looking for exactly? A guide on how to build a computer?

Like should I assemble the parts on the motherboard then put the motherboard inside of the case or the motherboard in the case first? A friend of mine tried both and says that inside the case is easier but I have heard that outside is easier as well which makes me unsure on who to believe. I may need a link to a guide to make sure everything is right. It's hopefully going to be a gaming computer.

Add cpu, RAM and the cooler while the board is outside of the case, then you can mount it in the case together. It's always easier to work on it when it isn't enclosed.

So everything that goes on the mother board but the graphics card. And I may need a guide on connecting everything.

If you need a visual guide I'd suggest watching this video:
For the cable management portion I'd suggest watching this:

Definitely think about getting an after market cooler. The Hyper 212 EVO is a great choice for the price, and you can even get a mild overclock on it.
Assemble the motherboard outside of the case the parts you'll put on are the (processor, cooler, and RAM).
