New graphics card- What should I get? :)

Hello again people. I have already posted a forum a while back about upgrading my computer and people replied, saying that the only thing that truly needs upgrading is my GPU.

I want a graphics card that'd allow me to play games on high end graphics, like GTA V, The Division, etc.
My question to you is what card should I purchase, with a budget of roughly 700$?

These are my specs in case you wanna judge for yourselves:

-Intel core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz(8 CPUs). ~3.9GHz
-NVDIA GeForce GTX 670
-16 GB RAM
-1TB of storage
-Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. H77-DS3H

*Please, if you need any more details let me know, I will be more than happy to post them.
 
Unless you're in a massive hurry, wait for Polaris or Pascal, the new line of graphics cards coming out this year starting in Summer. They're going to be a big performance jump so wait if you can.
 
If you don't want to wait a Gtx 980 should work. It's the recommended card for The Division. From what I hear GTA 5 isn't very optimized. Even the high end cards have trouble playing it. I think @Darren can confirm that.

The 980 is a great card, not cheap but its a great card.

If you can't wait for the next line of cards in Q3 2016, that is

GTA V is really well optimized from my experience? IV was terrible as it runs worse than V on identical hardware while looking worse. V does have a lot of settings though so if you really push it, it will stress high end cards.

My 7970 pushed GTA V at 1080p on mostly high/maxed settings. My 390 does 1440p essentially maxed except for a few really high end options. Even runs on my laptop and looks/runs better than the 360 and PS3.

Also if I you're playing The Division, you should get an AMD card as they perform a lot better in that specific game.

The 390 is only a tad slower than the 980 in this game and is $325 vs $475

I have another question. I know that my processor is pretty primitive. Would that affect my gaming experience if I buy a new graphics card (e.g 980ti) ?
 
While a bit older, it's still more than fast enough for modern gaming. Processors haven't changed as quickly.
 
Lol the i7 3770 is not 'primitive' by any means. Mine's great. As Darren said, CPUs, particularly Intel ones, haven't really gotten much faster in the past 5 or 6 years now. Not fast enough to affect gaming performance anyway.

If you want a new CPU you'll need a new motherboard and RAM too. Not worth it! Just get the 980 Ti and be done with it!

Definitely not primitive.. still a very good CPU!!!

I have heard that the 980 Ti is overkill when it comes to 1080p gaming. My monitor is a SAMSUNG SyncMaster S22B300 (specs: http://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-s22b300b-led-monitor-21-5/specs/ )
Would my monitor limit the "980 Ti"s capabillities and advantages? Is it better off to just buy a 980/970 instead?

You wont be able to do 4K with the TI as your monitor is 1080p.. unless you do that Nvidia DSR sampling, but thats not true 4K

So it is an overkill for my monitor... Is there any reason to buy the GTX 980 Ti over the GTX 980 when it comes to my type of monitor (Except the extra vram)?

Simply put, the more powerful the card is the longer it will last you. Sort of. The 980 can pretty much max anything currently at 1080p, so right now you wouldn't notice much difference. The TI will continue to perform better for longer, but the extra time you get out of it probably wouldn't be significant enough for the extra cost now. If I were you I'd buy a 390 or 390X. The 390X trades blows in performance with the 980 generally, has more VRAM which will last longer, and a good amount cheaper. MSI or Sapphire make the best 390X's, IMO and overclock better.

The 390 you could go for if you want to save some more money. You can pretty easily overclock most 390's into the range of 390X performance. My 390 is clocked above the 390X so should perform about the same.

Yah, probably overkill in general at this point.

I got my 980 in January, but new stuff will be hitting the market by summertime and I'd expect discounts, deals on older stuff as they blow it out in favor of the next gen of stuff./
