Hi guys; why my hp laptop when i close the lid it goes to sleep despite i change power settings not to?

Go into power in control panel on the left it will show choose what happens when I close the lid. Click on that and check settings to see what it does when its plugged in and when its on battery.

Thanks Johnb35; i did that and put everything to never but still when i close the lid it turns off the display

Sorry to intrude, but if you are saying what I think you are, it is not the operating system doing this.

With all laptops I have, the screen will turn off when I close the lid whatever I do. You can stop them sleeping like JohnB35 said but unless there is an option in the BIOS or something, I do not think you will get around it.

Why would you want the display *on* when the lid is shut anyway? :-)

Thanks SpriteMidr: i have a 24'' hd monitor display right in front of the laptop connected via HDMI cable and to be able to watch the monitor display i have to close the laptop ,but when i do the laptop display turns off and with it the Video display.

You would be better off using the "Show display only on display 2" option :-)

Extend desktop will force both screens to be used as two desktops, so stuff may appear on the closed screen or you might lose your mouse on it.

iirc WinKey+P or something brings up the dialog to pick it.

Thanks SpriteMidr; well since i changed to extended display it works great so the mouse, when i close the lid laptop display turns off and # 2 HD Samsung video monitor stays on and i can control it all times,i only need monitor #2 for streaming video.
