DDR4 2133 MHz SDRAM
This is my RAM right now I got 2x 4GB DDR4 SDRAM

now I want to upgrade to 16 GB i only got 2 slots so technically i got to sell my 2 4gb rams and buy a 2 8gb now my question is does ram brand affect if they are not the same brand? I mean i already know that i need to buy DDR4 cause they said that it is the one compatible of i7-6700. Im just not sure on what else matters in buying ram should they be married? (same time, no., unit etc etc) im not really familiar with it i dont want to buy a wrong ram and it wont work. Thanks Guys!

As @johnb35 said, any dual channel DDR4 kit will be fine and they would be matching set.

G-Skill or HyperX or Corsair are all companies that have these type of kit, they will be perfect upgrade for you.

Yeah and thanks for the reply guys I think you are right but the problem is 16GB I think is the only Limit of my ASUS ROG GL552-VX Im not sure if it can exceed rams. But Ill try to find the dual channel kit you guys are saying. BTW this is a laptop so I hope you can help me find some decent sellers of ddr4 rams for laptops we dont have much supply from where im from.

It has a max ram of 32gb but you would need windows 7,8 or 10 Professional to use that much. Windows home premium has a limit of 16gb of ram.

Hey, didn't even realize it was a laptop you were talking about.. but not to worry... that laptop is absolutely able to take 32GB (right off the ASUS site)

So all we gotta do is find you proper DDR4 SODIMM chips ----> What country are you in and I'll get you a few options!!

What version of windows are ya running? As @johnb35 pointed out.. You'd require Pro version. I forgot my Asus G74 with 32GB is on Windows 7 Pro

Im from Philippines and i7-6700 skylake is just new in town here we dont have much ddr4 as of now. What is widespread is ddr3 and ddr4's for desktop, not much for laptops i asked some technicians and they say supply is running out its kinda weird cause if something new comes there should be enough supply i mean come on it is just introduced! should they be running out of ddr4 if it was like introduced 10 years ago LOL. weird.

I dont know about ASUS ROG's build I saw a GL552 VW its max is up to 16GB only and GL552VX is up to 32 GB. Why cant they all make it up to 32GB

I hear yah..can be a little confusing, overwhelming, and in my case...rage inducing..

I'm gonna talk to my buddy Wil, he works in Manila as an English ESL teacher. He might have an idea to help us out.

Does motherboard concerns it? I dont get the points why almost identical Units and Models (except for Video Card) cant have the same capacity of RAM

Asus always has multiple models with multiple possible configurations...some are exclusive to specific regions/countries

In these case...looks like the VW only has options with 960 gpu and 1080p while the VX seems too offer a 4K option among the other choices.
