Should I pull the trigger?

That would be ethernet cables. You only need cables if you want to be directly connected to the router. If you are going to be doing any online gaming, you should use a cable instead of wireless.

Pretty straight forward on how to install a wireless card or usb adapter.

Unfortunately, the router isn't where I can game. (Shared living space)

The problem with those type of cards is that if your case is under a desk or in a cabinet, you won't get good signal. How far away is this computer gonna be away from the router?

It would be roughly a floor away, and maybe 20-30ish feet away. It would be through many walls, and my case would be used on/inside a desk.

It's pretty simple actually. Check to see if your motherboard has a spare PCI-E x1 slot available. Buy that adapter then follow the steps provided below.
  1. Open up the side panel of your computer case
  2. Locate where your spare pci-e x1 slot is.
  3. remove the slot cover on your computer case
  4. insert the wifi card to the pci-e x1 slot.
  5. put the side panel back onto your computer.
  6. Boot computer and install drivers for the new adapter.

The GPU section of this guide will be the same process.

For that specific card it also has an antennae you'll have to screw into the backplate and also an internal USB header/plug that will need to be plugged into your motherboard (if you want the Bluetooth functionality). It's pretty straightforward.
Does it really use a full 20-pin USB header for that Bluetooth functionality? Seems like a pretty heavy sacrifice just to get Bluetooth connectivity as those USB headers have always been expensive real estate for a motherboard.

Also as a sidenote, I never understood why companies didn't make more stuff like this... https://www.nzxt.com/products/iu01-usb-expansion

It also has a standard USB plug you can plug in on the outside if needed. I'm pretty sure I've got extra USB headers anyway.

Your signal strength probably won't be the greatest since its between floors and another 20-30 feet away. What model of router is it? It should be one with external antenna's.

$200 for the 4G version and $250 for the 8G version is what AMD has said.

Unless you can fork out $379 for the GTX 1070, the RX480 at the moment is the best card for that price range.
