Backup program needed

Can somebody recommend a System/Data files backup program? I am looking for an equivalent of Arconis (Which I have, but will not work with certain computers that I have), that will backup a HD in such a way, that it can be used to restore the old HD onto a new one in case of total failure. I am using W7 and 10 on different computers.

Why won't Acronis work for all your system?

I would probably look at one of the following.

1. Aomei Backupper
2. DriveImage XML
3. Macrium Reflect
4. Paragon

I don't know. But it blue screens after it reboots, (which is part of their recovery procedure.)
And it does it consistently with the same computers, while it works on others. Unfortunately, their support is terrible, I am going in circles when I try to contact them to ask about it. One of the problems is that my email address does not exist anymore, (the server went belly up) and they do not have a provision to change it! I forgot my password, and can not ask for it because they will send the necessary information to the non-existing address.

Thanks. I am looking at Aomei Backupper, it seems to have the features I like to have. I also discovered that W7/10 has its own build-in backup program, I will try that one too.

Any chance on using dd ? You can even pipe it into lz4 or something similar to compress your image on the fly.

Are you using the same image on all your computers of different manufacturers? If so, this is why. If you want to do that, you need to setup a base machine, install what you want to it, and then run sysprep before taking the image.

As Voyagerfan has said, if these machines have different hardware in them, you'll get the blue screen. You can't take an image from one system and put it on a totally different system with different hardware, as you'll either have a boot loop or you'll blue screen at startup.

No, I know better than that. These are image recovery files specifically created for the computer involved. I have five computers, two are laptops, two are self-build, and one is an HP, for each I created a separate directory on a external HD, and used it for recovery purposes using Acronis. As I found out, I have no problems with my laptops and one selfbuild, the HP and the other selfbuild give me blue screens in the recovery process every time. This fact has puzzled me. I had the original files deleted and replaced with newly created ones, with the same results. I also used a different External HD, thinking that it could be that the HD was defective, with no success. I still have the problem to this day, hence this posting asking for recommendations for an other backup program than Acronis.
