Newbie Build

I'm building a system for the first time after having a Dell for the past 6-7 years. Not for sure what I'm doing but here are the components that I have on a wish list so far...

ASUS Z97-WS LGA1150 Intel motherboard
Intel i7-4790K Devil's Canyon Quad Core 4.0Ghz processor
EVGA 220-P2-1000-XR 1000w power supply
Corsair Vengance pro 16gb 240 pin DDR3 2933 memory
EVGA GeForce GTX1070 8gb GDDR5 DX12 graphics card

Will this power most of the games that are out there today? My kids are big into most online games and just want to make sure that I have something that will not create alot of lag for them.

Thank you

The most psu wattage you'll need for any single video card is 600 watts. 1000 watts would be enough to run 3-4 cards.

Here is a list of parts you'll need. The new socket cpu's with a k doesn't have a cpu cooler with it so you'll need get one.

Do you have case, storage, copy of windows already?

Any reason specifically for socket 1150 parts? They've been superceded by 1151 on DDR4

If you have those parts listed (monitor, case, SSDs) and $1500 to spend I'd go with an i7 and GTX 1080 (cause why not? :p)

Windows 10 Pro OEM keys can be found for $30 on Kinguin.net... great place to buy, just make sure you get the buyer protection (~$1)

Not really, I'm just new at this and honestly I based my build off the processor. It had a really high review rating on Newegg, so that's what I went for. It's probably not the best way to go about things, but it seemed logical to me (remember, I've never done this before) at the time lol.

Ah, you'll probably want to check out the i7-6700K and a Z170 motherboard. You'd also need to change the RAM to DDR4 for that setup. It's the newest platform and has some small IPC gains over 1150 gear.

Also, 1000w is a bit overkill. Even in 2x SLI those cards will pull a max 350w.
