Is Yoga 900 worth it, or is it a better deal to just buy Yoga 700?

Hi!
I'm torn between Yoga 900 and 700.
I don't need both yoga 700's GPU or yoga 900's QHD.

It's like, I get the same specification in both cases, but I pay 20-30% more for yoga 900.

Is Yoga 900 THAT MUCH better than yoga 700 in quality?

I can afford both yoga 900 or 700 without doing any harm to my finances. I love quality, but I hate overpaying.

In price/quality ratio, which is better, yoga 700 or 900?

The 900 has a much, much, much better hinge system, and given the purpose and assumed use of the Yoga, that alone makes the only logical choice the 900!

I don't think I'll be using this hinge that often, I'll mostly use this device as portable ultrabook with a fancy option, so the hinge itself isn't a strong argument.
Moreover, I've heard that 700's hinge is sturdier, which seems like an advantage of some sort.

If your not going to use the hinge system and the unit as it was intended, why not look at a different option in a more traditional notebook?

Because other low weight devices aren't much cheaper (or maybe I'm missing something?), and the hinge system is fancy :D
But sure, if you have an recommendation within the same weight and size range, I'm open to it.

Buying it because the hinge system is 'fancy' is stupid, to be frank. Thats's kinda the whole point of the 'Yoga' - the hinge design and convertibility. If you want light, portable, and good specs there are a number of options from ASUS in their Zenbook family. wide range- depending on budget and what specs you want.

Laquer Head I understand your point, but, it's seems to me like there is no price difference, at least not on the market in my country in Europe.

It's like I can get Asus Zenbook with 8gb ram, i5 and 256gb ssd for a price ~between yoga 700 and 900 with exactly the same specs.
So, if there's in fact no price difference, why not choose the device with hinge system?

Either Asus Zenbook crushes Lenovo in term of quality, or I can't see a reason why not Lenovo.

As far as the durable construction is nice, the downside is the weight.
It seems to me like:
yoga 900 weights 1.3 kg
yoga 700 weights 1.6 kg
thinkpad weights 1.8 kg

I think I rather have it a bit more fragile but lighter, since I'll be using it mostly at uni, constantly carrying it.

full digitizer pen - I don't think I'll ever use this contraption

Trackpoint mouse - seems interesting, but again, I'm not sure if I'll be using it

Thinkpad keyobard - is it THAT MUCH better?

If you're using it for uni, you will most definitely be using the digitizer + microsoft onenote. That combination is the sole reason why the Surface Pro was so successful for uni students. Taking notes is like doing it on paper, but digitally now.

And yes, the thinkpad keyboard is THAT much better.
