Hooking a laptop up to a tower

Hi,

My laptop is not capable of supporting some composing software that I want to purchase (Not enough RAM, lack of a soundcard, and a hard-drive instead of an SSD). My question is, is it possible to hook my laptop up to a computer tower which could hold all of the RAM and components able to support the software? And if so, how would that be done?
Or would it be much easier and less expensive just to upgrade my laptop with the necessary components?

No you can't. Upgrade your laptop or just use the desktop?

The only thing you can do of that nature is run a game with the program called Steam on your desktop and stream it to your laptop. The game would run on your desktop using its hardware while showing on your laptop and taking input from your laptop. That's about the extent of it.

You'd really be looking at upgrading the laptop, what software is it? I haven't seen any that -requires- a SSD over a normal HDD

You likely would have to replace the HDD with a SSD but it would only make it a lot faster. Not anything necessary
