Can't Receive Group MMS From Specific Contacts AT&T

This is a very odd issue that I've been having since I got my LG G4 around April. Basically I cannot receive group messages from specific contacts. It shows that there is a new MMS message for me to download from that contact but it won't pull it through and thus I get left out of the loop in group texts. I first had this issue with my brother when he got a new LG G5 shortly after I got my G4. Suddenly all group texts from him would fail to receive. Then one of my friends got a Samsung S7 and he started having the same issue. Now a third contact has this issue after he got a new LG V20 in the past couple months and I'm getting annoyed at this point. :P

All three people are also on AT&T (brother is in my family plan even). I have zero problems sending and receiving direct MMS with them and I'm the only person to have this issue with them. They all use the stock messaging app for their respective phones. I use Google Messenger but have also uninstalled it and the stock LG one gives me the same issue. I'm pretty stumped. Any ideas?

Try using Textra, I used to have a lot of MMS issues in the past (I'm on Cricket, which is on ATT's network).

Also check your APN settings, make sure they're correct.

I really doubt it's an app issue since I've tried the built in LG Messenger and MightyText which I use for notifications and texting between my laptop, desktop, tablet, and phone. Regardless of the app it seem to exhibit the same issue and being specific to contacts makes me think it's something else. Is there anything in particular about Textra that would help or is it just another SMS app?

Will look into APN settings, heard the acronym but don't know what it means.

Textra is another SMS app, but it seems to have some magic for making MMS work when other apps have problems.
That's why I switched to Google Messenger, although that was when I was still on my old phone.

Checked APN settings and they're identical to my brothers. I did disable Enhanced LTE Services to see if that has any effect. Common theme seems to be newer phones on AT&T and I think that's a tech specific to them from my brief research.
